Further prospective studies should be performed.Purpose This study aimed to explore whether estrogen-related receptors α (ERRα) can prognosticate the occurrence and development of ovarian endometriosis (EMs) as a non-invasive biomarker. Methods The ectopic and its' correspond eutopic endometria from 47 patients with ovarian EMs and the control normal endometria from 32 cases were collected and detected the mRNA expression of ERRα by RT-qPCR. The serum protein of ERRα were tested by ELISA. The menstrual cycle, ovarian cyst sizes, relative clinical tumour markers, such as CA125, CA19-9 and HE-4, and other demographic data were also involved into analysis in these patients by SPSS 22.0 (IBM, Chicago, IL, USA). Results The ERRα mRNA expression in ectopic endometria were significantly lower than it in eutopic endometria (P less then 0.05) and the normal endometria (P less then 0.05). Similarly, the serum ERRα levels in patients with EMs were significantly lower than it in control group (P less then 0.01). Moreover, the serum ERRα levels were decreasing with the increasing of the pathological stages and ovarian cyst sizes. While, the serum CA125, CA19-9, CA125/ERRα ratio and CA19-9/ERRα ratio in the study group were significantly higher than those in the control group (all P less then 0.01). Conclusion The expression of ERRα is correlated with the development of ovarian EMs pathological stages and ovarian cyst sizes and can be used as a novel and non-invasive biomarker for evaluating the progression of ovarian EMs.Prochlorococcus is the most abundant photosynthetic prokaryote on our planet. The extensive ecological literature on the Prochlorococcus collective (PC) is based on the assumption that it comprises one single genus comprising the species Prochlorococcus marinus, containing itself a collective of ecotypes. Ecologists adopt the distributed genome hypothesis of an open pan-genome to explain the observed genomic diversity and evolution patterns of the ecotypes within PC. Novel genomic data for the PC prompted us to revisit this group, applying the current methods used in genomic taxonomy. As a result, we were able to distinguish the five genera Prochlorococcus, Eurycolium, Prolificoccus, Thaumococcus, and Riococcus. The novel genera have distinct genomic and ecological attributes.Novel colorimetric and ratiometric fluorometric dual-mode N, P-co-doped carbon nanodots, BPEI-CDs, for highly sensitive and selective detection of formaldehyde (FA) were successfully prepared from N-(phosphonomethyl)iminodiacetic acid (PMIDA) and branched polyethyleneimine (BPEI). The treatment of FA caused a remarkable linear enhancement of ratiometric fluorescence (F501 nm/F408 nm) in a wide range of 0-40 μM with a detection limit (LOD) of 0.47 μM (3σ/k), along with distinct color changes from colorless to light yellow. Mechanistic study shows that this electron-rich system, formed by the cooperative roles of N and P, promoted the FA-induced Schiff bases formation reaction, which contributed to the CD aggregation-induced emission (AIE) "turn-on" response and enhancement of π-conjugation-induced bathochromic behaviors. Furthermore, N, P-co-doped BPEI-CDs were successfully applied to the determination of FA in bean sprout samples. Using the standard addition method, the recoveries ranged from 96.9 to 101.8%, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was in the range 2.23 to 3.21%. Graphical abstract.There is a lack of reliable and valid measurement tools to assess neck function in infants with congenital muscular torticollis, and most physiotherapists use visual estimation, which has not been adequately tested for reliability in this population. We examined the reliability of visual estimation of head tilt and active neck rotation in the upright position, on infants with congenital muscular torticollis by physiotherapists. We recruited 31 infants and 26 physiotherapists. Therapists rated videos of infants' head position in the frontal plane (tilt) and transverse plane (active rotation) using visual estimation, on two occasions at least one week apart. Physiotherapists' clinical experience had minimal relationship with reliability.The ability to synthesize particular steviol glycosides (SvGls) was studied in Stevia rebaudiana Bertoni hairy roots (HR) grown in the light or in the dark under the influence of different osmotic active compounds. Manipulation of culture conditions led to changes in the morphology and growth rate of HR, as well as to an increase in oxidative stress manifested as an enhancement in endogenous hydrogen peroxide concentration in the cultured samples. The highest level of H2O2 was noted in HR cultured under light or in the medium with the highest osmotic potential. This correlated with the highest increase in the expression level of ent-kaurenoic acid hydroxylase, responsible for the redirection of metabolic route to SvGls biosynthesis pathway. An analysis of transcriptional activity of some UDPglucosyltransferase (UGT85c2, UGT74g1, UGT76g1) revealed that all of them were upregulated due to the manipulation of culture conditions. However, the level of their upregulation depended on the type of stress factor used in our experiment. Analysis of SvGls content revealed that HR grown under all applied conditions were able to synthesize and accumulate several SvGls but their concentration differed between the samples across the different conditions. The level of rebaudioside A concentration exceeded the content of stevioside in HR in all tested conditions.
